The University of Brighton is set to save more than £210,000 in 10 years by changing its fire extinguishers to the composite P50 extinguisher. The university site was spending more than £30,000 a year on maintenance costs for the 1653 normal extinguishers across its 55 locations.
When the annual extinguisher contract was about to expire, they decided to change every unit for the multi-use, recyclable P50, which fitted perfectly with the university’s goals to reduce is carbon footprint.
We were able to reduce the number of extinguishers down to nine hundred P50s. Installed in the university’s halls of residences, teaching buildings, laboratories, sports facilities, library and Student Union.
